The BRICS WBA 2023 strategy and workplan are founded on the principle that trade enhances economic growth and productivity, enabling countries to build resilience and increase access to essential goods and services. Prioritizing exports concentrates investment in more efficient sectors of the economy, ultimately leading to higher productivity and economic growth. In this context, rising exports provide the necessary resources for increased imports, which are essential to fueling economic expansion.
Aligned with the theme and priorities of XV BRICS Presidency, the BRICS WBA 2023 Strategy and Workplan aims to unlock mutually beneficial opportunities for increased trade, technology transfer partnership and investment in developing capacity of BRICS and African women entrepreneurs and the broader SME sector. The strategy seeks to facilitate partnerships with different stakeholders to improve women’s ability to do business, trade and secure investment and developmental support across multiple sectors offering mutual benefits and interests.
The 2023 BRICS WBA trade and investment journey consists of export-oriented and investment led scoping missions from March to April 2023, involving face-to-face engagements with major business associations, chambers of commerce and regulatory authorities in each BRICs member state to identify and frame capacity building, trade and investment projects.
The next phase from May to July 2023, involves business-to-business (B2B), organization-to- association (A2A) match-making activities virtually linking BRICS and African women entrepreneurs, SME sector, import and export industry players as well as investors. Targeted outcomes include framing contractual arrangements between businesses.
